The Battle of Midway (1942)

"On June 4-6, 1942, a large Japanese force attempted to capture Midway Island in the North Pacific, but was defeated by U.S. forces with a loss ratio of 4:1 in favor of the Americans. On hand was a crew of naval photographers directed by John Ford; their documentary footage was edited together with narration by Hollywood actors. The film covers the attack on Midway, some limited aerial footage, the search for survivors, and aftermath of the battle." -imdb.com

the narrarator sounds Japanese...First of all I know it's dificult to understand politics and such matters, but it would show a keenly aware mind if the truth could be metabolized like eating lead, literalyy...The US troops were lucky at the battle of Midway bc of the Japanese lack (at the moment) of patience. many thing were happening and the J Armada turned at a critical point where the bombers of the US were closing in bfefore the smaller amount of US ships could havbeen spotted by the rising sun...And finally the word SOCIALISM is heard on our shores in the election of 2008...how sad a project we've become...the stars to reach and the stripes to paint on our 'white picket fences'....LOL

Read The Rape of Nanking, and tell me how bad the U.S. was. 36 Million Chinese were killed in WWII, many years after the war by biological warfare. Note that 29% of American POWs died in captivity by the Japanese, as opposed to 4% of Americans held by the Germans.

This is awesome. And anyone objectively studies history -- minus all the patriotic music and other classic "propaganda" elements that Bob astutely observes are contained in this film -- and cannot come to the conclusion that the Allies were the good guys, is indeed (apologies to Apl and Bob) an idiot. Yes, I realize it's ultra-hip and high-minded to draw moral equivalencies when analyzing modern and past conflicts. It's also idiotic. As impressively evolved as your brains are, Apl and Bob, I'd rather die than think like you. Actually, we WOULD all be dead (or, at the very least, German) if we all thought like you.

Dennis I think you need to learn what type of government and economy Japan has. I tell you it is not a republic. You are the one who does not have a clue.

Bob you don't have a clue. Your mind has been turned to much by ingesting too much liberal propaganda. The U.S. stopped the imperialistic tyranny of Japan. The attack us bonehead and our brave men and women stood up against the barbarism of fanatical emperor worshipping Japanese. Who now gratefully model their government and economy after our.

Larry just because your father fought in the war does not make your family an expect on knowing what the axis police state is. Just from reading your comment I would be absolutely surprised if you have even been outside the U.S let alone visiting a communist country. I would love to hear you explain the definition of fascism, police state...or how about dictatorship. Before you call anybody an idiot you should look at yourself first. Perhaps Bob should not have used the word Fascist but the message he is trying to convey holds merit.

Bob, you are an idiot. You don't even know what a fascist is. You don't know what a police state is. My own father spent 14 months on Guadalcanal and shipped out a second time to Eniwetok Atoll. He finished the war with 40% disability. My family knows the difference between the US and the Axis police states. Suggest you move out of the country and try living somewhere else to improve your head.

This is a good example of American fascism in World War Two. It has all of the essences that fascist films should have including pride of arms, a sense of righteousness, and sadness at finding dead soldiers.
