The Bridge (2006)

"People suffer largely unnoticed while the rest of the world goes about its business. This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness. Raises questions about suicide, mental illness and civic responsibility as well as the filmmaker's relationship to his fraught and complicated material." -imdb.com

smjk, 6 times dude? People die by accident all of the time. If you really wanted to die, you could do it. Take a bottle of tylenol. Or, give me a call i'll help you out. WTF you just want attention. I have sympathy for people who kill themselves, but not whiny attention whores like you. You fail.

this movie really hit home.i have tried to commit suicide 6 times and have failed at every attempt. i am now on 3 different meds that i take every day.i have days where thats all i can think about, some nights i go to bed just not wanting to wake up so i dont have to think about it anymore.this movie is a window into the pain and suffering that many many people experience everyday. my heart goes out to the families and those who have passed. i thank you from the bottom of my heart for shedding light on the severity of this issue.
rest in peace

This was a beautiful movie. The ending is very touching, disturbing, saddening, inspirational, and beautiful all in one.
As someone who has made attempts at my own life in the past, I can connect with those who have passed, and I know what they were going through. I wish things could have been better for the 24 that ended their lives in 04 by the Golden Gate Bridge. Rest in peace.

I never heard of this movie till a couple nites ago on when they showed it on 20/20. Unfortunately, I've heard of people from other countries that go to the golden gate bridge with that terrible plan in mind. I hope they build a barrier, but those that really want to do will find other ways.

A touching movie. I've never jumped but I have tried to end it and this really hit home with the family members reaction to the deaths. Rest is peace for those who have jumped.
