If you take into account the fact that this is 1955.There is no knowledge of space as we know it today.The Soviet Union was still two years away from launching Sputnik into orbit.And if you have seen any of the other films of this genre from this era,it is difficult to have as your only conclusion that "The Major is a major dick".That is unless you have experience of being in the state of dick headedness.Of which I believe RaulJones has an overwhelming amount.Therefore, he is excused from having any valid opinion.
