Ron Paul: A New Hope

"Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535” on Capitol Hill."

response to 'kevin'-part 2 : lastly, the constitution is the enumeration of our rights and the provision for their protection. without a universal recognition of the constitution as our high law and a willingness to defend that law, we have nothing. we could all return to a servile state and who knows? our liege might even go so far as to tax our property. if we do not defend the constitution entirely, we have not defended it at all. the right to life is the pinnacle of rights and stands as overseer to all others. no person may claim any other right without first obtaining life. all people have the right to life, both the born and the unborn. no person may presume to assign legitimacy to the life of another. that is the office of the Creator alone. regardless of ethnicity or gender the constitution is our only claim to freedom and our willingness to defend that claim is all that validates it. we must commit ourselves to a defense of the constitution and not allow sensationalist tactics to deter us from that high purpose.

response to 'kevin'-part 1 : roe v. wade is not law. it was a supreme court ruling. the supreme court does not have legislative authority. that belongs to the legislature, with approval from the executive branch. furthermore, your premise that without the legal authority to murder their unborn children, women would be thrust into "the kitchen" is flawed, in that, by the time of that ruling women could vote and had been occupying positions previously held by men for at least two decades (since WWII at least). that is akin to saying that without the EOC blacks would be "back in the cotton fields". we are long past the agrarianism that made slavery profitable. tractors are cheaper to keep than horses or slaves. without the "civil war", the industrial revolution would have ended slavery anyway. likewise, without the constant threat of invasion/attack, women, in our country, have no universal need to commit themselves to the protective strength of men, and adopt a submissive attitude as did their forebears. they are free to go and do as they please, (insofar as any of us are). this is not a consequence of roe but rather of social and technological change which, though it continues today, preceded roe by decades, if not centuries.

Problem with Ron Paul is that he's interested in overturning Roe v. Wade. So, you get some help on the war front, and women go back to the kitchen, where he thinks they belong, I guess.

I have had little faith in this governmen until now. Ron Paul speaks for Real Americans and the beliefs on which this country was built. Our future is now in the hands of the American voters. Do we want more of what we have or have not had in recent history, or is it time for truth, for change, for America to be once again, One Nation under (your god here) with Liberty and Justice for all (including working class citizens).
